COMPOSITION

Each ml contains calcium gluconate 100mg.

DESCRIPTION

A colorless clear solution.

PHARMACOLOGICAL ACTIONS:

Calcium supplement.

Calcium has extensive physiological and pharmacological effects:

Promote teeth and bones development, maintain normal structure and function of bones. Maintain excitability of nerve fibers and muscle, participate in neurotransmitter releasing. Fight against central inhibition and neuromuscular excitement conduction block caused by magnesium ion. Reduce the permeability of the capillary membrane. Promote coagulation.

Growing animals need more calcium and phosphorous than adult animals, while in lactation period they need more. When animals suffer from calcium deficiency, acute or chronic calcium deficiency disease may occur. Typical symptoms of chronic calcium deficiency includes: osteomalacia, rickets, bones hypocalcification can result in cartilage dysplasia, degeneration and bones deformation. Joint stiffness and hyperplasing, movement disorders, neuromuscular disorders, weight loss. If laying fowl lacks calcium or phosphorous, eggshell can become thinning and easy to break, hatchability decrease. Acute calcium deficiency can result in neuromuscular, cardiovascular dysfunction, such as parturient paresis in dairy cattle, childbirth convulsion syndrome, bovine hypomagnesemia

This product contains calcium lower than that in calcium chloride, thus has little tissue irritation effect, and it is safer than calcium chloride when administrated by injection.

INDICATIONS

For hypocalcemia and allergic diseases, as well as lifting central inhibition caused by magnesium ion.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION

For intravenous administration.

Cattle and horses: 200-600ml for a single dose.

Sheep, goats and pigs: 50-150ml for a single dose.

Dogs: 5-20ml for a single dose.

DRUG INTERACTION

Intravenous administration of calcium preparation combined with digitalis can cause arrhythmia. Thiazide diuretics used in combination with large doses of calcium can cause hypercalcemia. Combined with magnesium preparation can increase the likelihood of arrhythmia.

ADVERSE REACTION

Hypercalcemia may occur on animals with heart or kidney disease.

PRECAUTIONS

Contraindicated in hypercalcemia, concurrent administration of cardiac glycosides should be avoid. By slowly intravenous injection, avoid subcutaneous or intramuscular injection for its irritation. Extravascular injection should be avoid, otherwise pain or tissue necrosis might happen.
